Summertime, Summertime...
Where has the springtime gone? In Colorado, we don't have a long spring -- it's a brief, intense breath of dew and cool, before the summer of heat and dry begin. My garden has experienced the vagaries of our climate....even March planting of peas wasn't enough to guarantee their production. New beds struggled with too much organic material, creating a water seal that kept plants from their drink. And a really bad case of flea beetles. But hope springs eternal. And now? 15 varieties of heirloom tomatoes are burgeoning! We are getting ready to sell to local restaurants! There is so much more to say about home grown and sustainability, but everyone this month should be studying their own tomatoes!
